Hey hey! I’m Will – sound designer at Fuse Games. I’m responsible for finding, recording, designing or downright wrangling any of the sound effects we need for our games, and enjoy getting involved on the music side too. I love the power & inspiration of collaboration, and bringing worlds to life through expressive audio. Outside the studio, you’ll find me playing music or out in a random field somewhere, listening to the birds and the trees!

Playing the Buzz Lightyear game with my Dad.. or Combat Flight Simulator.. or Podracer..

What was the game that triggered you looking at games as a career?

Answer

For the cinematic thrill, Uncharted 2.. for the design, Inside & Limbo.. for the combat loop, Batman: Arkham Asylum.. and for the bullet time, Matrix: Path of Neo.

What did you study at School or Uni that you feel was valuable for a career in games?

Game dev is made up of a patchwork of crafts, coalescing into something greater than each individual. I studied Creative Music Technology at uni, and in retrospect it was the modules that encouraged collaboration and holistic approaches that most mirror working in that environment.

Game that has inspired you the most?

Answer

Red Dead Redemption 2, for its sheer scale and detail, and the feeling of immersion.

What is the first game you worked on?

Answer

Hopping between Sea of Solitude & Battlefield V: Firestorm.

I’d be scraping a living making music, or maybe working in nature / conservation in some capacity. Or in psychology!
