Senior Game Designer

Ana Reis Alceu Da Cruz Antunes

Besides my love for games and gaming, I love to learn new things, from crafting to digging into topics to starting way too many hobbies. I have just started taking the first steps at learning how perfumes are made for example, which hopefully will not turn into a full-blown hobby for the sake of my wallet (and brain). To relax, lately I’ve picked up reading again. Excessively so maybe, but I find joy in being immersed in a compelling story! However I mostly relax by walking around, discover a city and it’s many secrets, always with my camera attached!

Q

Earliest gaming memory

Answer
I’m not quite sure which one is the earliest, but the two ones from my childhood I clearly remember is sitting down with my dad watching him play his ancient Magnavox Odyssey 2 (which he sinfully later recycled when we moved houses), or trying to sabotage my cousins hospital in Theme Hospital.

Q

What was the game that triggered you looking at games as a career?

Answer
Portal. I was introduced to it during University, and I did skip too many classes just to replay it back then. It made me start questioning how games were made, which opened the path of me becoming a game developer.

Q

What did you study at School or Uni that you feel was valuable for a career in games?

Answer
Everything. Started in Software Engineering, eventually transitioning into Game Development and Game Design specialisation. All prepared me somewhat for a career in games in some way. Despite not being perfect.

Q

Game that has inspired you the most?

Answer
As a Game Designer, Portal for sure. Purely for how elegant it is mechanically and how much they achieved through the Portal Gun.

Q

What is the first game you worked on?

Answer
An unreleased game in partnership with Wargaming

Q

Games you’re the proudest to have worked on?

Answer
An unreleased H. R. Giger-ish well established sci-fi horror-action franchise where humans fight against 2 ruthless species of intergalactic hunters, who also fight amongst themselves

Q

If you weren't making games?

Answer
I’d find a way into I’d probably run a coffee shop/book shop/plant shop.

Q

Top 3 games of all time?

Answer
#1 - Portal 2 #2 - Breath of the Wild #3 - Red Dead Redemption 2

Q

Hardest game boss?

Answer
