Everyone Loves a Donut at Fuse!
We started Fuse back in January 2023 and while during the week we got on with our day jobs of starting a game studio, by the time Friday’s OTG (Off-the-Grid) time came around everyone wanted to explore something new.
We knew that Blender would form a part of our game making toolset so we decided that we'd all get stuck in to learning it, and there's no better way to learn something than by doing it with friends!
We started working through the fantastic Donut tutorials by @Blenderguru - How to make a Donut in Blender.
@Blenderguru is a terrific teacher and we have all had a great deal of fun working our way through creating our own donuts, each adding their own spin on the tutorial. Here are some of our examples:
What you'd call the traditional style:
Then, of course, the team starts exploring other aspects of Blender, with the results becoming more adventurous!
We needed some old-school 8-bit and pixel art versions too.
Then for those that wanted something a little more interactive there was some Donut shooting action in Unreal!
It really is amazing what you can do with wonderful online tutorials and this incredible free tool in Blender that's equally as powerful as what you may consider 'pro' game making workflows costing thousands. It's fair to say that it's never been easier to teach yourself the capabilities you need to bring your talents to the fore if you're looking for a career in gaming.
Why not have a go yourself? We'd love to see your creations so why not share them with us at donut@fusegames.com
Happy Baking!
