Alien Easter Egg

Every Friday afternoon at Fuse we get some R&D time called Off the Grid (OTG). The theme was Easter, and whenever I have a loose constraint like this, I always take every opportunity I can to twist and subvert those constraints into something dark or horror related.
So I thought 'what's a horror film that uses eggs!? Maybe I can do a sound redesign to a short section of it?' and I remembered that one of my favourite films has a spooky egg hatching scene!
We'd recently bought a new handheld recorder that I wanted to test out and become familiar with, so I wanted to incorporate using that in some way.
As we're a new studio we're building everything from the ground up and I don't have access to the vast amount of sound library content that I've had at previous larger companies.
It's been a challenge to work from absolutely nothing and start building the Fuse Games Audio sound library. Challenges like this can bring up self doubts: 'Am I only as good as the libraries and software I have access to?' 'Can I make something great starting from nothing but my own knowledge?'
So I decided to add all of this into my list of constraints and set myself the challenge of doing a sound redesign to a short clip of the egg hatching scene from Alien, using only sounds I recorded within a 4 hour window and to prove it by capturing it all with my GoPro.
So here it is, my Easter themed, imposter syndrome inspired project!
